MoB Makers: Isopet

Create a self-soothing tactile sculpture with artist Michelle Vine! This free MoB Makers activity encourages you to explore your sense of touch through art making. Michelle shares her inclusive art practice methods which aim to create playful and positive experiences for audiences of all sensory abilities. This activity uses everyday objects and materials, so anything can become a sculpture!

This activity draws on Michelle’s work during the MoB Artists@Home residency earlier this year where she turned a series of ordinary household items into lively soft sculptures.

You will need:
  • 2 – 5 found objects (unwanted small household items to convert into tactile tools for exploring touch, eg, kitchen utensils, paint brushes, toys etc.)*
  • Blindfold (or something to obscure your vision)
  • Foam offcuts and/or wadding
  • Textiles such as faux furs, velvet or fleece
  • Fast acting glue (suggested Helmers 450 Quick Dry)
  • Needle and polycotton thread
  • Scissors or craft knives (suitable for cutting foam and fabric)
*Hint: items with handles are ideal!
