Getting Here

Museum of Brisbane is located in Brisbane City on Level 3, Brisbane City Hall.  Enter the Museum through the King George Square entrance.

 

Chartered Buses

The Museum does not have on-site long-term coach parking. We recommend coaches drop off and pick up students on Ann Street Stop 10.

Train

Central is the closest train station to Museum of Brisbane.

Arrive at Central Station and exit via Ann Street. Head south west along Ann Street for 300 metres (5 minutes) towards King George Square.

Bus

There are a number of buses that stop along Adelaide Street and Ann Street. Please note, due to construction on Adelaide Street in 2024, some stops may have moved.

Car

There is undercover paid parking available in the King George Square car park, entry from Adelaide or Roma Street.

Meeting Point

When you arrive for your visit to Museum of Brisbane, please wait outside in King George Square. If the weather is inclement, your group should wait on either side of the portico. We suggest arriving at least 15-minutes before your scheduled visit to allow students an opportunity to have a snack and/or use the restrooms located on the ground floor of City Hall.

Supervision and group size

Given the size of City Hall we ask that groups be supervised at all times by the appropriate number of adults for the safety of all students. This ratio is particularly important when travelling in lifts between the ground floor and Museum of Brisbane on Level 3. Please arrange the following:

  • 1 adult per 5 students (Prep – Grade 3)
  • 1 adult per 10 students (Grades 4 – 6)
  • 1 adult per 20 students (Grades 7 – 12)
  • 1 adult per student with additional needs

Cost and invoicing

Prices

During the booking process, you will be provided with a quote. This quote is determined by the program/s booked and expected number of students per group.

Invoicing and payment 

Payment is due two business days before a confirmed booking.

Museum of Brisbane Learn bookings include GST. Please be aware that all fees are subject to change.

Any variance to attending numbers must be confirmed two business days in advance of your booking. Change in numbers may affect the cost, itinerary and necessary staffing.

Notice of cancellation 

Please advise Museum of Brisbane immediately if a booking is to be cancelled. If cancelled less than two business days in advance, you will be charged to cover the cost of the rostered staff.

Learn Assist

Learn Assist provides increased access for children, young people and their teachers to participate in the cultural life of their city.

Schools and education groups that meet eligibility requirements will receive financial assistance for workshop fees and travel costs.

To be eligible, schools located within Greater Brisbane are required to indicate a value of 1,000 or less on the Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA). School ICSEA rankings can be confirmed here.

Facilities and services

Places to eat lunch

As food and drink cannot be consumed in the Museum, we suggest these nearby locations for you and your class to enjoy your lunch breaks:

  • King George Square
  • Anzac Square

Bags and storage

Museum of Brisbane will provide all necessary learning materials on the day of your excursion. Students may like to bring a small bag with essential personal items such as a water bottle or phone. We recommend leaving larger bags at school.

For any visits that include a lunch break, we recommend storing each classes lunchboxes in a container that can be cloaked upon arrival.

Toilets

There are accessible toilets on the Ground Floor of City Hall and on Level 3 at Museum of Brisbane.

The toilets on Level 3 at Museum of Brisbane have the following dimensions:

  • Corridor to the toilet: 1.6 metres wide
  • Toilet doorway: 840 centimetres wide
  • Toilet room: 2.13 metres x 2.7 metres

Accessibility

Museum of Brisbane offers a range of services to enhance on-site accessibility. These include a social story, sensory map, audio descriptions, auslan translations and touch trolleys.
