How might we capture the heat of the sun on the back of the neck, the shiver of reflections on a pool’s undulating surface, the blinding sun in our eyes off the water, or the speckles that slide across our sun-soaked retinas?
In this painting workshop, City in the Sun artist Holly Anderson invites us to contemplate the more ephemeral elements of Brisbane’s sun-filled landscape while exploring practical drawing and painting skills. Suitable for all skill levels, this half-day workshop will provide the materials, inspiration and know-how to capture the beauty of our sparkling city this summer.

Holly Anderson works with painting as a practice for investigating sensory experiences with light and landscape. In continual reference to the bathers and sunlit subjects of romantic Australian landscape painting, she tentatively explores the various ways the body might be more strangely involved in its environment. In 2017, Holly completed a BFA with Honours at the Queensland College of Art in Meanjin, Brisbane where she now holds a sessional teaching position.
